    My daughter loves these!

My daughter was having some sensory issues with store bought undies so I had been thinking about making her some right when this pattern was released! Great timing and a perfect fit. These are now the only undies she will wear.

    Pingo

    Great pattern

Pingo National Landmark is located in the Northwest Territories, and is an area that is protected by Parks Canada and contains 8 pingos… which are tundra-covered hills with ice-cores that form over drained lakes.  In the entire region, along the Arctic coastline, there are 1350 pingos.  “Pingo” is Inuvialuit for “small hill”.

In this area, when the water in a lake begins to drain away, the water in the unfrozen ground around it begins to freeze.  When it freezes, it expands, and since the ground around the lake is already permanently frozen, the newly frozen ground pushes upward.  Whatever remaining water is then pushed toward the center, where it continues to slowly drain away… creating a cycle that results in a growing mound of frozen ground and ice with a thin layer of land on top.  When all the ice has frozen, the pingo stops growing.
