The Epic List of Pajama Patterns

This is the time of year when I want to sew ALL the pajamas! Flannel and fleece are both on sale and our family has already seen the first snow flurries of the season outside our windows. I know other people are also thinking about sewing up Christmas pajamas for their families, and I got thinking 'Hey, wouldn't it be great if someone made a huge list of PJ patterns so people could browse through to find the perfect one?' Then I realized... I'm someone! I already had a pretty big list of pattern options I liked for my own family, all I needed to do was organize it and find more. So... the pajama pattern hunt began...

My list grew from big... to huge... to EPIC! In this post, you will find over 80 patterns for the whole family in every style and fabric you could hope for! Pajama party time!

Simcoe Pajamas are in this list, which are a buttonless option that uses knit for the cuffs and collar. This is also the place to find those classic full button-up styles you may be envisioning for Christmas morning!

As this list really started to grow, I quickly realized it was going to be important to make it organized and attractive. I also wanted to make sure that you love this list so much you come back to it over and over to find PJ patterns for your whole family! So here is what you will find when you scroll through this list:

First, I've separated all the Pajama patterns into six categories...

• Woven Sets - designed with non-stretch fabrics.
• Onesies - full one-piece style, also known as rompers or long johns.
• Fleece Pajamas - designed specifically for fleece fabric.
• Knit Sets - for fabrics that stretch, such as jersey or cotton/lycra.
• Nightgowns - separated also into whether they are for woven or knit fabric.
• Pants Only - these are just the bottoms... if you want to wear a top, that's up to you!

Then, I divided those categories into who the pattern is for... kids, women, men, or if you can get a bundle for the whole family. Sounds pretty good so far, eh?!

But even then, I still had questions... what season are the jammies for? Do I need buttons or zippers? What about unique features, like footies or bum flaps?
So I've made a legend... this is the key to the lists you will find below:

The sunshine symbol means that this pattern has short sleeves. In the case of sets, will also include shorts and/or pants.

The snowflake symbol means that the pattern has long sleeves. If part of a set, will also include long pants.

The button means this is full button-up style, or has a partial placket with one or more buttons on the front or back.

The no-button symbol means this pattern does not require buttons or snaps.

The zipper indicates this pattern needs a zipper.

This symbol means this pattern includes attached footies.

This is a drop-seat symbol... meaning this pattern includes a functional or a faux bum flap.

Fleece Pajamas

These patterns were designed specifically for fleece. You could certainly use some of the other patterns in this list with fleece as well, but it's important to note that fleece is more stable and has less stretch than most knit patterns recommend, and will result in thicker seams if considering using a pattern that is designed for wovens.

Knit Pajama Sets
